Tipsy Friday

Hi everyone!!!!

Welcome to Tipsy Friday, where I’ll share my best and most embarrassing moments, recipes and tips about stuff. The Tipsy also stands for tips.
Today I’ll talk about a typical drink of my state. I can honestly say that this drink is to my state what Apple Pie is to America. Yep, you can’t separate them.
I drink it everyday, summer, winter, whatever, wherever, whenever. This drink is called Chimarrão. Gisele drinks it too LoL She was born a couple cities away from my city, BTW.
Here is a pic I took at my work, sorry about the mess LoL

See how cute it is????? I’ll teach you how is done later. Now I have a little story involving this very unique and hot, hot, hot drink.

I guess “hot” is the key word in  this post. Are you seeing where I’m going with this? Uhummm,, maaajor burn LoL

So, this was this week. yeah, a current event, just for a change. As you may have notice, I’m a little clumsy.

I try not to be, but me and balance, do not go well together. Never had , and I’m afraid, never will.
So, I was at my desk, doing my job and taking care of my business. Any other normal day, except I was swamp with work. Oh, my, this week was hell. You can imagine how distracted I was. So I was typing, talking on the phone , doing like 5 things at the same time and drinking chimarrão.

I was reading a 43 pages contract when my friends decided I was too quiet. Can you belive that?So they call my name real loud ou of the sudden.
Can you guess what’d happened?

Yep,, in a blink I was covered in green and all wet. It took me half a hour to get everything cleaned up.
Soooo not cool.

The drink is hot and here is the way we make it.

Any questions, just let me know.

XoXo

Vamps and Unicorns

Drink, Slay, LoveDrink, Slay, Love by Sarah Beth Durst
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on 03/23/2012

As I read this book I couldn’t stop thinking about the Addams family. The dark humor, the emotionless expressions and the simple disdain over the humans feelings in general.
The crazy uncle, the dark and scary dad, the mom that can rule the house with a steel voice, is all there, but with an extra evil souse on top.

description

The Plot – Think of all the things you know about vampire and unicorns. Think in all the stereotypes. Think of all the glitter and sparkly (not the vamp’s glitter cose this ain’t Twilight, I mean the Unicorns LoL) Now throe it all away, cose this is something completely new and you don’t want to hung on your ancient believes when you are reading this. The key is to keep your mind open to everything you see. I’m not saying that I fell for everyone of the explanations and theories in the story. I mean, I still don’t believe in that crazy story about the unicorns and their propose in life and stuff. Does that mean I love the story less: Hell no!! The story was awesome even with the nonsense parts.

description

As you can see in the Summary, Pearls is an average Vamp, going around, biting necks, hanging out with her vamp boo and kicking some ass defending her territory.

description

Pretty (para)normal, right? Well, but that changed when she met with an,(drums, please) UNICORN!!!!! LoL

description

Ok, Ok, that doesn’t sound so terrifying, but he is not that cute. He stakes her in the heart and that’s the end of her (un)life.
Well, not literally. Figuratively is more like it. She starts to act funny and have thoughts that are not her usual thoughts. She thinks that she may have some bug or something, but then stuff got really mess up. She discovers that she can go out in the sun.*really dramatic music*

description

That’s my favorite part of the book. The wonder of seeing something new and wonderful for the first time. Having something that you never imagined being possible to have. I certainly went to stand in the sun like a fool after reading this part of the book. And it was wonderful. In a dorky kind of way, but wonderful, nonetheless.

So, the plan changes. Her family is supposed to host this super duper important vamp party and they want to use Pearl’s new ability to “hunt” dinner for the party. Piece of cake, right? Wrong!!!! Pearl is having some uncomfortable feelings and don’t know what to do anymore. The party is coming and her time is running out. What to do? What to do? What to do? What to do? What to do? *squeal*

Pretty unusual plot. Me like it!

The Characters – Pearl is my fave.

description

She is cold and shows no emotion or respect towards humans. To her they are nothing but a meals and, sometimes, entertainment.

description

There’s a part where they are all gathered around a table talking about gossip and the grand event wile a human guy is immobilized on top of the table like a xmas turkey about to be eaten by the happy family. Our heroin feels annoyed by his constant moaning, whimpering, and stuff. I know what you’re thinking, but don’t be so hard on her. Is not like you got any emotional attachment to the turkey on Xmas day either.
I love her dark sense of humor, the way she sees and experience things are so unique and totally unexpected. The other characters are cool too, but the cool stuff is due to the way Pearl sees them. She even nicknamed a few. LoL So funny.

description

The Writing – How can I describe her writing? *scratching my head* What words can I use to tell how good it is? *squinting my eyes* How can I explain the dazzling influence it had on me? *rubbing the bridge of my nose*
Ok, it will be hard, but I’ll try. Imagine you are in a magic show watching the Great what-ever-is-the-name doing magic and stuff. Picture the light, the shadows and the skanky girl in a bikini on the stage. Razzle dazzling you into believing that magic is real. The voice and movements are so enticing that you can’t help but fall for it. After the show you are left you a goofy smile and a star trucked look. Do you believe magic is real after that? No. But in that moment it didn’t matter what was real. You still enjoyed yourself and that feeling makes you want to believe in magic.
That was the way I felt after reading this book.
Considerations – This is more like a warning. This book can make you do things. Yep. Before I read it I was a (not so)normal girl with (not so)normal life living my life like (not) any other girl. After I read this book I’m a chocolate chip mint ice cream addict that gets all dorky when sees the sun. *shaking my head*
What have you done to me Durst????? *raising my arms and shaking my fists*

Monsters On The Loose

Sketch Monsters Book 1: Escape of the ScribblesSketch Monsters Book 1: Escape of the Scribbles by Joshua Williamson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on 03/19/2012

This story is cute and sweet and a little scary, but not much.

description

Mandy is a girl that never shows any emotion.

description

Then her big sister goes away. Mandy loves her sister deeply and is suffering with this, but her face remains flat as an ironing board. So, so sad, right?

description

Her sister gives her a drawing book as a goodbye gift, so that Mandy could put there all her feelings, memories and whatever crosses her mind.
Mandy loved her gift and spent all her day drawing monsters on it. Monsters of all colors and sizes.

description

Nothing unusual there, right? Well, nothing until the monster decided to escape and run around.

description

Yep, the crap definitely hit the vent. And I loved every minute of it LoL
The drawings are wonderful and I spend most of the time drooling over it. The character are something else too. I know I’m grown up and all, but I love this book

Welcome to another Tipsy Friday!!!!!!!!! Today I’m talking Drinking Games. Yep, the most fun games of all. Why drinking games are fun???? Well, they make you act silly and you can’t help but laugh. I don’t know about you, but I believe there’s no such a thing as too many laugh moments. On the contrary of many believe, you don’t need to take alcoholic drinks to have fun in a Drinking Games.

The fun doesn’t have to be focus on the buzz that the abuse of alcohol causes. The focus must be the in the fun. My friends and I love to play fun and silly games, but one of my favorite is called “The Stutter”. This is simple. You’ll need various pieces of paper, a pen and a lot of imagination. We all gather around the table or something and pick a pieace of paper writing something random and totally out of the box. The paper is folded and we put them on a box. The first one take a paper and says a sentence using the word on the paper. The next person pick another paper and continue the story using what is writing in the paper. You have to talk fast, think fast and don’t stutter. If you do stutter or take too long to keep going you drink. It can turn out hilarious cose we get nervous and the words keep getting away from us. “drawing a blank” Don’t even begins to describe the sensation. Last time I played that game I almost peed myself, from the excitement and the nervousness as well. It was my turn and my paper saied something really crazy like : Canibal tomatoes or something like that.I couldn’t come up with the answer and had to drink. It tasted wonderful, but some wnet out my nose at some point. Let me tell you, it hurt like hell when drink spill out od your nose. True Story!!!! LoL See? You can have lots of fun!!!! The Recipe,,, really simple  Chocolate Milk Shake with a peoermint toutch. In the blenderyou put1 cup of chocolate icecream, ¼ cup of extra cold milk and 2 pepermint candy. Mixe it all toguether and drink with a straw. I hope you like this guiessssss!!! XoXo

Hunted (The Shadowing, #1)Hunted by Adam Slater
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on 03/18/2012

The Plot - Callum is a teenager with some freaky gift. He can see ghosts. So far so cliché, right? Ok, but this is the least of his problems cose there’s a monster that is after him and all of those who are just like him. It’s called The Hunter and it kills it’s victims in a bloody way ripping their eyes off their sockets. Why? Well, that’s something to discover by reading the book. *evil laugh*

description

So, The Shadowing is near and evil is just around the corner. What are you going to do about it? Run and hide or stay and fight?

description

This plot kicks some ass and is scary as hell. I love it and it almost made me pee my pants with the ripping and tearing.

The Characters - Callum is this guy that lives with his gran and is so cute how the two treat each other with love and respect. She makes dinner and he makes the tea. They talk and share their day. Is all so cute and I really miss paranormal books that show this part of the characters lives. He is polite and reserved around people because of his secret and all. Is not very pop to say “I see dead people, all the time” as you may think.

description

There’s also Jacob, a ghost that appears to want to help Callum. With him comes Doom. No, is not actually Doom. That is the name of his doggy. Yep, he has a hellhound as a puppy.
If this wasn’t “help” enough, there’s also Melissa. A hippy/wika/weirdo girl that seems to know a whole lot of stuff about what Callum really is and what he can do.
All of them are strong in their own way and have a really important part in the story.

The Writing - It’s third person narration but it is told by 2 POVs. Callum’s and The Hunter’s. The passing, the way the things developed and the way it describe, oh, the way this guy describe makes me chill to the bones. I couldn’t blink for most part of the book. He doesn’t get cot in the little details, but the ones he do are wonderfully tell in a extremely particular way. You see through his eyes. I know, I know. The eyes are very important in the story. I didn’t mean to make a joke. But that was totally the way I felt. This guy, this guy. I’ll keep my eye on him.

description

Considerations - This author is sick. Really, really crazy and I have nightmares just imagining what kind of mind would come up with a story like this. The details, oh, I can’t say that enough. The way he describe the dark, the shadows, the emotions. I literally had nightmares with this book.

description

Imagine you can see ghosts. Scary, right? But then you start to have visions about bloody murders. Double scary? That’s right. Then, a ghost boy with a giant dog from hell appears on your door step telling about a danger that’s coming your way. Pee your pants yet? I sure have to change my panties after this revelation. Ok, so that’s it, right? Yeh, you wish. Gran has a,,, ok, ok,, no more. Go read the book to find out. This is too juicy for me to spill the beans like that. *Dr. Evil laugh*

description

I really love this book and I totally didn’t expect to even like it. The story was compelling and the ending, wow, let me wanting more but not in a terrible cliffhanger kind of way.
The best part is that I had a sneak a peak of the next book. I’m telling people, this is freaky-and-wonderfully-scare-you-to-death kind of book.

Thinking can be dangerous

Suicide Prohibition: The Shame of MedicineSuicide Prohibition: The Shame of Medicine by Thomas Stephen Szasz
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed in 03/17/2012

I want to start this review asking a question. It’s an unusual question and some people may not feel comfortable with, but just go with it.

The question is:

“Have you ever thought about suicide?”

Think really hard, don’t answer right away. Have you ever watched a movie about suicide and imagined how it would feel to do it? Have ever wondered how it would feel to hold the decision of your own life and death in your hands? To end your life jumping off a building or taking a bunch of pills?
If you have, even for a second entertained your mind with it, then you are a sinner and doing something illegal.
Wow, wow,, that’s not me speaking It’s the truth. If you ever say to “head doctor” that you had any suicidal thoughts this is pretty much what will happen to you:

Dr. – So, how was your day?

You – Oh, don’t get me started on that circus of hell.

Dr. – Oh, please, tell me. You are in a safe place and I’m here to help.

You – Work was crazy. This bitch was so bitchy I wanted to kill her.

Dr. – Oh, *scribble,scribble*

You – And my boss, oh, he was so unaware and such a pig. He almost had me bend over just to see my boobs.

Dr. – Oh, *scribble,scrible*.

You – I was so glad when I finally got home, but then my husband was so angry and he hit me extra hard.

Dr. – That’s why you have a black eye. I was wondering about that. *scribble, scribble*

You – Oh, Doctor, sometimes I think it would be better just to end it all and kill myself already. *sigh*

Dr. – What do you mean? You think about *quivering chin* suicide?

You – Well, yeah, I guess, sometimes.

Dr. – Wow, no need to shout. Calm down, calm down.

You – What?

Dr. – Oh, my gosh. You are feeling disoriented, that’s normal in your condition.

You – Condition? *frown*

Dr. – I will help you. There’s this institution,,

You – Institution?

In this minute the dear old Doc presses a big red button and the whole hell breaks loose. The doors open and nurses come running and trap you in straps jackets while the Doc is screaming “CODE 5!” and running around the room shaking his arms over his head.
You are now considered to have a disease and will be treated like a crazy person that cannot think for itself. Crazy stuff, right?
This book really makes me think about what is considered crazy and how all this psychiatric stuff really works. The brain, the mind is something like a mystery to me. Faith is another thing I can’t really rap my mind around it. I like to think about stuff and speculate, ask questions, imagine a thousand different scenarios of the same subject.
I guess that’s why I like biology, philosophy, literature and stuff. They force you to think and open your mind to things out of your comfort zone.
Sometimes, thinking about something means just that. Just because you think about starting a diet doesn’t mean you’re going to do it, right?
Bottom of line is, I like this book and this author a lot. I even went on and did a research on him.
Here is his site if you want to know more about him and his work: www.szasz.com

And here are some really cool quotes of this crazy guy:

“If you talk to God, you are praying; If God talks to you, you have schizophrenia..”

"The stupid neither forgive nor forget; the naive forgive and forget; the wise forgive but do not forget."

“Suicide is a fundamental human right. This does not mean that it is morally desirable. It only means that society does not have the moral right to interfere”

“Every act of conscious learning requires the willingness to suffer an injury to one's self-esteem. That is why young children, before they are aware of their own self-importance, learn so easily...”
